A milestone worth celebrating!
The @ScienceMagazine paper titled “High-throughput single-cell omics using semipermeable capsules” is not only a breakthrough for single-cell multiomics—it also reflects how much can be achieved when researchers bring their ideas and efforts together.
Congratulations to Prof. Linas Mazutis and all co-authors for bringing this work to life. Atrandi’s Semi-Permeable Capsule (SPC) technology, at the heart of the study, was born from years of shared ideas, experiments, and persistence. Seeing it now open new possibilities for multi-step, high-throughput single-cell analysis is a moment of real joy.
We are grateful to be part of this journey and to support the researchers who continue to push the field forward.

📖 Single-Cell Omics in Microbiome Research is now out with Springer Nature – edited by Christian Rinke and Maria Dzunkova.
We’re especially excited to see a chapter in the book featuring Atrandi’s Semi-Permeable Capsules (SPCs). And we’re grateful to Maria Dzunkova and Alicia Ortiz Maiques for sharing such a practical, hands-on view of the workflow. SPCs can make multi-step, high-throughput single-cell genomics possible without expensive automation – opening a more accessible path into large-scale microbial studies.

✨ We’re very proud to share a special moment from last night!
Juozas Nainys, PhD, Atrandi’s CEO and Co-Founder, was honored with the Global Lithuanian Award 2025 for bringing Lithuanian innovation to the global stage.
This recognition is meaningful to all of us at Atrandi. Our story began in the Linas Mazutis lab at Vilnius University, driven by the belief that scientists deserve tools that let them explore biology more deeply than ever before. Nearly a decade later, that belief has grown into a team, a technology, and a mission that now reaches laboratories around the world.
In his acceptance speech, Juozas shared a thought that reflects who we are as a company: “I’m proud of what we’ve built together, but even more proud of who we’ve become as a team.”
🚀 Thank you to everyone who has supported Atrandi on this journey. We’re just getting started.

☀️ Yesterday, we marked the winter solstice – the moment when the sun turns back toward us, and the days begin, almost imperceptibly, to grow brighter. For centuries in the Baltics, this has been a quiet promise: light always returns, even if slowly.
In science, we often move through our own versions of long nights – questions without easy answers, experiments that demand patience, work that takes time before something meaningful becomes visible. But this year, just like the returning sun, we saw light appear in many forms: in new insights revealed through single cells, in ideas exchanged across continents, in the steady, persistent work of teams who believe in what they build, and in every conversation with researchers who reminded us why we do this in the first place.
As we step into the holidays, we’re grateful for every person who walked beside us this year. For the curiosity you bring, the trust you place in us, and the discoveries you share with us and the world.

🌊 We built Semi-Permeable Capsules (SPCs) with single-cell research in mind. In the hands of the Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences Single Cell Genomics Center, this technology helped uncover abundant non-canonical marine viruses from nanolitre volumes of seawater, now published in Nature Microbiology.
We’re grateful to Alaina Weinheimer, Ramunas Stepanauskas, and the whole team for trusting SPCs in such ambitious science and for showing what becomes possible when tools meet real-world ocean samples.

Today, our CEO Juozas Nainys joined the event by @GoVilnius Going Global 5: Owning the Origins and the Future, on the panel “Made in Vilnius: Turning the Origin Story to an Advantage.”
Together with Laura Tyrylyte (Nord Security), Virgilijus Kupinas (BIO CITY) and moderator Lukrecija Giedraitytė (Delfi), the conversation circled around a simple but powerful idea: where you start and where you’re based still matter – but the solutions you build and the problems you solve matter more. One line from Juozas stayed with the room: “Own your story, be authentic, build good product and the rest will follow.”
🚀 Atrandi was born in Vilnius and built by scientists who wanted better tools for single-cell research. Today, after our recent Series A round and with customers around the world, that origin story is not a limitation – it’s an advantage.
