In every StarCraft 2 patch, Protoss never gets a true buff. Something gets improved, but at the same time, something else gets taken away. Protoss’ core gets made weaker, and to make up for it, there are a few small side buffs and quality of life changes.
In those same patches, there are always buffs that nobody asked for that turn out to be significant, such as the Liberators costing -25 gas and the Viking damage point change. When Terran and Zerg get nerfed, there is always something significant to fall back on.
Can we make Protoss stronger without taking something away at the same time? For example, with the current proposed patch:
- Keep the new Energy ability on the Nexus, but also keep Battery Overcharge.
- Buff the Tempest's damage point, but don’t reduce its anti-air range.
- Buff the mineral cost of the Immortal, but let it keep its attack speed.
- Let the Disruptor have its reverted radius of 1.5 but don’t reduce its damage output.
- Make the Mothership stronger but don’t make it more expensive.
Protoss has not won an offline tournament in years. It is actively hurting the game. Buffing Protoss is going to make the Grandmaster Ladder more Protoss-favored, but so be it. I don’t believe anyone but Blizzard actively working on the game can change that at this point.
