💥📺🎙️New "When The Facts Change" post Financial markets will likely punish any escalation of Labour's nasty internal war Speculation is mounting that Labour MPs and activists will remove @Keir_Starmer as Prime Minister, along with his Chancellor @RachelReevesMP The betting markets are now pricing Starmer at "3/1 on" to leave Number Ten sometime during 2026 - that's far more probable than "evens" for those who don't understand betting parlance. The Bank of England held UK policy rates today - at 3.75pc - which was the correct decision in my view, and widely expected. But far more significant is the fact that, as the chances of Starmer being removed from office increase, UK government borrowing costs are rising again - which pushes up mortgages and other personal and corporate loans. Why are gilt yields rising? Because the UK's creditors believe, again rightly in my view, that internal replacements for Stamer and Reeves are likely to be even less fiscally responsible than the incumbents – borrowing and spending even more, doing further damage to the UK's already battered public finances.
