🔥 Jeremy Clarkson had a fiery clash with BBC’s Victoria Derbyshire at the farmers’ protest against Reeves’ inheritance tax raid on family farms. Victoria went straight for the gotcha: “So it’s not about you, it’s not about your farm and the fact you bought a farm to avoid inheritance tax?” Clarkson, visibly stunned: “Classic BBC there, classic. The ‘fact’ that I bought a farm to avoid inheritance tax? The ‘fact’?” Victoria doubled down: “You told The Sunday Times in 2021 that’s why you bought it?” Clarkson, laughing in disbelief: “These people… BBC. Let’s start from the beginning. I wanted to shoot. That’s even worse to the BBC. Which comes with the benefit of not having to pay inheritance tax.” He pointed out the tax isn’t even an issue for him personally as he can simply put the farm in a trust, but he’s standing with ordinary family farms that will be hammered. After sparring over the real numbers affected, Clarkson urged the government to U-turn. Victoria: “And get the money from where?” Clarkson: “Walk into any of the offices around here and if you don’t understand what somebody’s job is, fire them.” 😂 Classic Clarkson.

And we’ve even managed to stop goats from eating the crop plots (all thanks to @Nofence_AS). Visitors, exhibitors, contractors, and service providers - we have you all to thank. You make Cereals exactly what it should be: a place for farmers to come together, connect, engage, share knowledge and see the industry’s latest innovations. Exhibitors, thank you all for powering through this intense build-up and breakdown. Thank you to the teams who have gone above and beyond with all their extra help, including @_FLGB, Kaleb Cooper Contracting Ltd and @CeresMachinery. And a final thank you to our host farmer @JeremyClarkson, Charlie Ireland of @ceresrural for his support and expertise and the rest of the team at Diddly Squat Farm. We have had 25,000 visitors attend this year - a record-breaking number. To see so many people through the gates has been wonderful and has cemented the fact that Cereals remains the key event in the arable farming calendar! I am sitting next to a pool on a terrace in northern Spain. Twenty minutes ago, I ordered a plate of six croquettes (assorted flavours). Next to me is a woman who, naturally, didn’t want any. You probably think you know where this is going, but no. I ate them all, in peace. No incursions, no comedically wobbling fork appearing in my peripheral vision. All mine. Men: it is too early for complacency, and this is obviously not a bowl of chips. But we may have achieved the end of the beginning.
