Pr. Wendorf helped a woman divorce her husband without any justification, then issued her a call as a DCE after she was excommunicated from her home congregation. He refused to speak to her husband. He was just re-elected as Area C VP of the Texas District.

Lutheran who goes to Roman Catholic parishes to take communion and sacrifice his soul to take the priests with him because they didn’t guard the altar.

I know it’s a joke, but it literally is because their ideology can’t call child porn evil per se. They believe children can consent to sex and they believe porn is good, so the only way to get around this is to only criminalize child sexual *abuse* material.
Sorry calling it “child sexual abuse material” is a little funny like did child porn not sound evil enough

“Being topped with mustard is what being a hot dog is all about.”
very cool and intelligent move to classify graduating from a decent Uni as being contrary to "what being an American is all about." that makes sense.

My girlfriend only makes me a glass of water, cup of coffee, etc, whenever it's less than 48 hours since we've had sex. Any longer than that and she starts withholding intimacy
Every marriage is unique, because it is a meld between two weird people. Every heterosexual couple's dynamic is so unique that comparing them makes as much sense as comparing the pracital nuts and bolts of the sex lives of gay men and lesbian women. Men do not arrive fully formed individuals to fully formed individual women and start a relationship as a overt cooperation-formal-contract. Your boyfriend didnt show up to the relationship fully formed and not asking you if you want a glass of water, and you didn't show up to the relationship fully formed wanting a glass of water (or well I just wanted him to ask to show he cares). YOU grew INTO that dynamic together. That was not something that was "already there", which then "happened to you", it was a dynamic that you let come into being. It is not a reflection of some universal truth about Men and Relationships and Women as these large metaphysical categories. It is your relationship, and half of it or more, is you. Not even a reflection. What people arrive to the relationship as is half-people, cripples, half-finished, poorly put together, scrambling to make it work. What you CAN do together is to become whole, to grow into something better together. But if you expect people to arrive "finished", as "good people", then you will do the opposite, and deteriorate together, and develop a dynamic that cycles you through anxiety and frustration and pettiness

Women living alone without kids spend more time doing housework than men living alone without kids. So there are two possibilities: (1) women are inflating their self-reported numbers, and/or (2) women have generally higher standards for their households.
what this graph actually proves is that women work nearly as much as men but do nearly twice the amount of housework and childcare

I was lying in bed last night, mostly asleep. I heard one of my kids make some sounds, so my wife and I slightly woke up to listen. I rolled over, and my wife started tickling the back of my head. The profound sense of relaxation and calm that brought put me into a very deep, very restful sleep. What is often missed in the conversation about intimacy in married couples is that most men crave nonsexual touch from their wife as well. It is enjoyable. It is pleasurable. But it is far more enjoyable and far more pleasurable when the man is also sexually satisfied. A man who is deeply sexually frustrated in his marriage is going to find that nonsexual touch irritating. It will build resentment because his needs are not being met. Just as a woman may find sex frustrating or resent-inducing when her emotional needs are not being met, a man may find nonsexual touch frustrating when his sexual needs are not being met.

Women can’t admit out loud that they explicitly hate male sexuality, so they just pretend to hate sex altogether. When they say “non-sexual touch,” they really just mean the kind of sexual touch that women prefer.
TIL there are women who consider making out in bed with your spouse at the end of the night to be "nonsexual touch"

This is a red herring, albeit a popular one even on the right. Nobody is being turned away from serving their congregation or talking to their neighbors about Jesus because they’re not a pastor. The inertia we see is because we don’t actually believe what we preach.

The terms "right wing" and "left wing" exist because the people who supported the church and the king sat on the right and the people who wanted to destroy Christianity and kill the king sat on the left in French government. These are the only two political positions in modernity
I feel you people have zero comprehension skills at all. Never said Halo didn’t take from religion or Christianity, I’m question why and how the game is right-leaning, furthermore the OPs claim of why Christianity is right leaning, as if it’s a political religion.

Luther noted how the kind of celibacy imposed by monasteries was unnatural & unsustainable for most, which is why they proliferated scandal. The kind of celibacy we impose (no marriage until education & career are established at ~30yo) is no less unnatural & unsustainable.

1. Overseeding areas with new congregations by presuming attendance rates from the 1950s would stay the same and not changing course when they were already changing 2. Colleges chasing non-Lutheran tuition dollars and earthly acclaim instead of remaining committed to serving the shrinking pool of students who wanted a thoroughly Lutheran education 3. Suburban congregations minimizing their Lutheran identity and catechetical formation in a way that made them attractive to one generation of Lutherans who wanted church to be fun and easy but that made them seem largely irrelevant to the next generation. (Ex: aping evangelical worship and thus establishing a pipeline pushing the next generation into evangelicalism or nothing in general) 4. Congregations choosing managed decline instead of rebuilding robust congregations together. There are certainly more, but these are the first four that come to mind

The institutional collapse of the LCMS is happening because of decisions made by people fifty years ago, not five. Those who pretend otherwise should not be taken seriously. Likewise, those who crow the loudest about how we are not sufficiently committed to evangelism and growth in the LCMS often have one adult baptism for every 50 people they lose through death or indifference. Don’t take them seriously either.

“Drinking from the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons is not a top issue.” Biermann’s video cited here is a misdiagnosis. Put your oxygen mask on before you help someone else. Our church is asleep because we teach our people God asks neither true faith nor moral life of them.
Seems … many think closed communion is a top 3 level issue synod …. I hate to tell yall it’s not. It’s important but not a top issue to base ya vote on Biermann & Harrison aren’t far on this issue. Biermann last video of “sleeping church” is a major issue

They're calling it the marital debt jubilee
there's a sex therapist who has a ritual of making out with her husband every night before bed, and so many of the comments on her posts are some version of "but what if he gets turned on and I don't want to have sex" and i need men to understand and prioritize non sexual touch.

Hey @elimcgowan why don’t you report it as a scandal that LCMS congregations violate their own official doctrine of the Lord’s Supper by regularly admitting Presbyterians to their altar?
I got word today that the FRCNA, a small NAPARC denomination of nineteen churches, joined the ARP, RPCNA, PCA, OPC, and URCNA statement to “condemn without distinction any theological or political teaching which posits a superiority of race or ethnic identity born of immutable human characteristics and call to repentance any who would promote or associate themselves with such teaching, either by commission or omission.”

Paul: Women should cover their hair. Christians: Oh? Why is that? Paul: Because of the angels. Lutheran pastors: It’s actually not talking about a piece of cloth on your head, and it’s actually insignificant and optional, and you’re actually a pietist if you do it.
Paul: Women should cover their hair. Me: Oh? Why is that? Paul: For the angels. Me: I mean... care to elaborate? Paul: Nope.

LCMS? Aren’t they the ones who require YEC and prohibit women’s ordination?

What a dishonest, disingenuous article. Voting for a someone other than Harrison does not mean that anyone else will do. I see no reason why anyone who voted for Ball should vote for Biermann. If you voted for someone to the right of Harrison first, why would you vote left now?

“It’s only a dysfunctional vocal minority of Cretans who are given to lying, and the difference is small anyway. Then a dysfunctional vocal majority of Jewish Christians get more vocal about it, etc.”
Here's how racism spirals work: A dysfunctional vocal minority of Group A gives a dysfunctional minority of Group B a false impression of how dysfunctional Group A is, and so the dysfunctional minority of Group B gets more vocal, which makes the dysfunctional vocal minority of Group A think Group B is more dysfunctional than it is, which makes Group A's dysfunctional minority bigger and louder, which then makes the dysfunctional minority of Group B bigger and louder, and so on...

This kind of anti-racist talking point is a denial of both original sin and any kind of spiritual inheritance. We all want to sin, and we all tend to organize ourselves according to (among other things) the sins we find preferable. Every Christian can see his son repeat his sins.
