Don't know where this stupidity comes from, not just from one place but wherever this comes from, its just divisive. No State can do everything on its own, this narrative of State A doing something for State B is useless, the nation exists as one, some resources here some there.
In Tamil Nadu: The state government couldn’t fund Chennai Metro Phase II due to lack of resources, so the Centre stepped in with nearly 65% of the cost (~₹41,000 crore) to get it built.
In Karnataka: The Bangalore Suburban Rail (K-RIDE) is stuck in endless delays because of land acquisition issues. L&T, the contractor awarded the construction, walked away after facing massive losses due to delays, and is now demanding over ₹650 crore in compensation.
In Telangana: Hyderabad Metro, 90% funded by L&T, is on the verge of collapse. L&T is preparing to exit operations due to unsustainable losses, largely caused by the government’s policy of free bus rides affecting metro ridership.
In Maharashtra: Most metro projects came to a grinding halt thanks to political roadblocks imposed by the previous government.
But guess who the average South Indian blames for all this? “Shithole UP”
UP is busy building multiple metro projects on its own, with mere support from the Centre. Yet somehow, the narrative is that the South is funding metros in India’s 3rd largest GDP state.
Look closer, and you’ll see where the real problem lies :)
