This rule is responsible for the climate of fear most educators are feeling. It puts their certifications on the line if found in violation.
To reduce the discriminatory censorship happening in our libraries, “classroom instruction” must be defined.
ALT (2) Florida educators shall comply with the following disciplinary principles. Violation of any of these principles shall subject the individual to revocation or suspension of the individual educator's certificate, or the other penalties as provided by law.
🚨Call to Action🚨
Floridians, please submit a comment asking for a definition of “classroom instruction” to be added to the amended language of The Principles of Professional Conduct.
We must reduce the chilling effect of DSG expansion in HB1069.

ALT You received reporting information from districts confirming
educators are not clear on what is meant by the limitations on classroom instruction. The proof is in the removal of LIBRARY books that were available for K-3 self-selection and contain representation of LGBTQ families (see data submitted by Clay, Duval, Florida Schools for the Deaf & Blind, Lake, Manatee, and St. Johns to you Feb 2023 survey). You have an obligation to recognize the discriminatory censorship happening as a result of this language. You MUST add a definition in this rule for
"classroom instruction" before this amendment passes.
Brevard County School Board member Gene Trent admitting that they intend to ban ANY books he and his fellow right wingers on the board don't like for ANY reason.
