All the "banning social media won't work because kids will find ways round it" posts are entirely missing the point. If they find ways round it, the social media companies are at fault. If they illegally supply content to underage users the consequences should be severe.

It's incredible how far the usual X accounts are going to mislead you all on the UK Government under-16 social media ban. Despite the misinformation being spread today, 88% of 8444 parents 'strongly agreed' with the ban, just 2% 'strongly disagreed'. Certain accounts on X are framing a different question as though it was the ONLY question asked, and totally ignoring this one where parents got to give their nuanced opinion, and were overwhelmingly in favour of this policy.

The more I read posts on here from adults claiming proving their age to get on social media is an invasion of their privacy the more convinced it am the right to ban it for for kids.

Feels like a lot of people on the extremes of left and right aren't happy that it'll be harder to indoctrinate kids online.
