I was talking to an industry/AI leader last month who said that education is broken, but it will need to fail completely before we can rebuild it fit for purpose.
I wonder if we will reach that point?

In my experience, we are also losing experienced teachers at unprecedented rates too. I'm seeing STEM teachers leaving in their droves across the NW. It isn't sustainable.
Teacher recruitment stats are out, and it's bleak
⬇️ Just half of required secondary teachers recruited
🥎 Targets only met in PE, classics and history
🧮 Just 17% of target met in physics, recruitment worse in maths, English and chemistry

Just chatting to my sister, who is also a science teacher. 4 science teachers out of her department of 8 are leaving the profession before next Easter. Young teachers on mainscale.
Not sure how we counteract this exodus? @ASCL_UK
I am seeing good Science and Technology teachers leaving the profession all across the NW. Many are moving into tutoring because they love teaching, but the 'other stuff' is too much. Recruitment is getting more difficult.
We need a #APPG with teeth that can effect change soon.

Two of the absolute best teachers I know, who have been teaching exactly the same amount of time as me, told me this weekend they were getting out ASAP and were completely done with it.
This is unsustainable in every sense.
Last weekend, I had someone explain to me that #Covid was a hoax & doctors were paid to issue bogus death certificates. I didn't really challenge them because it didn't seem worth the inevitable argument. After reading this, I wish I had. #CovidInquiry#covidinquiryUK
