We often don’t want to have disagreeable conversations. We like our ideological entrenchments. But this @NPR story from @rachelnpr is a great reminder of how to have civil discourse, even if you don’t change anyone’s mind. We need to talk & listen more! npr.org/2021/06/01/100201817…

ALT A large American flag with many small American flags in large numbers to honor those who died on September 11th. The flags are staked in green grass on the old portion of Bowling Green State University's campus, in front of a building of yellow brick.
ALT A board describing a field of American flags staked in the ground. The board pictures two blue lights rising out of a large scene of buildings that is downtown Manhattan. The rising blue lights signify where the twin towers---World Trade Center---were before they were destroyed on September 11th, 2001. The board with the picture reads: "The 2971 small flags represent the victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. The two large flags [not pictured here] represent Kathy Hawk Nicosia ('69) and William Ruth ('71, '73), two BGSU alumni who were killed during the 9/11 terrorist attacks." The board and flags are staked in green grass on the old portion of Bowling Green State University's campus, in front of a building of yellow brick.

This weekend, we remember those whose lives were lost, the families left to mourn, those who ran into the devastation to save, and those who serve to protect our nation.
We remember.
