TfL has recently confirmed a tender to replace its 29 ageing battery engineering locomotives: some of this indefatigable yellow fleet have components over 100yrs old. They’re not seen often (usually operating away from public services) so here are my snaps of L52 under repair at Ruislip Depôt, L27 & a consist of 6 locos readying for the night shift there, plus L48 on duty at Bank during the rebuild project. New locos are due at design stage in 2029.

10th June 1986 , Network SouthEast was officially launched at London Waterloo. Just so happens it's the 10th this Wednesday, We'll be there with a small display to celebrate.

#OnThisDay 55 years ago London Transport marked the end of its steam-hauled engineers trains with this farewell trip from Moorgate to Neasden seen here at Barbican on the 'Widened Lines'... This was 3 years after BR had banned(!) steam traction. @ltmuseum buff.ly/vCFpyaN

We bid farewell to our old fleet
The fleet’s last official week of service will be the week commencing Monday 22 June, with an old train operating on the Yellow and Green Metro lines from 9.30am to 5.30pm all week, up until the early evening of Friday 26 June.
