BLUMENTHAL: Was the Capitol attacked on January 6? SCHWARTZ: There was definitely trespass and violence at the Capitol BLUMENTHAL: So the Capitol was attacked violently? SCHWARTZ: You're asking me to weigh in on sort of public characterizations BLUMENTHAL: You know what makes me angry? You're insulting our intelligence. Do you really expect us to accept these canned, rehearsed, practiced answers, repeated again and again by judicial nominees who have an obligation to be truthful and independent? You both know better

What? It's not sufficient to park their money in an index fund or a blind trust? Lawmakers need to be active traders to take care of their families?
“We have to have sympathy. We need to at least let them engage in some stock trading so they can continue to take care of their family.” - House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) on lawmakers trading stocks.

HOLY SHIT 😭 Dude just recovered 5 BTC (~$400K) that had been locked for 11 YEARS… using Claude AI. He got high in college, changed the password to “lol420fuckthePOLICE!*:)” and forgot it. Tried trillions of guesses. Paid recovery services. Nothing worked. He then... dumped his entire old college computer into Claude. AI found the old wallet file, spotted a bug in the recovery tool, fixed it, and extracted the keys.

If there is ever a social phenomenon that needs to be studied, it is how the GOP has been able to hoodwink people for decades into thinking that they the party of “fiscal responsibility” when there is absolutely ZERO evidence to support that claim. And I mean ZERO.
CBO says the Senate Republicans' new reconciliation bill will increase deficits by $71.7B over the next 10 years. That's what the bill costs, so that makes sense. cbo.gov/system/files/2026-05…

My Mac ran out of memory the other day, quite a surprise. WhatsApp was using 60 GB. (Screenshots weren’t working so I took a pic.) Nice that it can summarize memory for a whole app instead of just per process like Activity Monitor does. Anyone know of a free tool for this?

I haven't seen anyone tracking all of the alleged (or open) Trump corruption, self-dealing, and quid pro quos in one place. For the last 15 months, I've been tracking every single tip story I can find and organizing it. Today, I published a 6,000 word piece with every example.

Funny because last week in the @LaunchedFM podcast @joeallenpro told @_chuckyc his Captions app was seemingly rejected from the App Store for having an agents.md file in its package.

Coding with AI is so fast I haven't needed to start an issue tracker for my project. A google doc is more than good enough because I never get more than about 3-4 issues deep.

Beautiful gesture and beautiful response
In 2019 my girlfriend (now wife) sent Patrick Collison a cold email for the ages. Patrick replied 3 minutes later, warmly, with a yes. A few weeks later I met Patrick at Nopa at 9pm. He ordered tea, I ordered something stronger. He was congenial and energetic, and 90 minutes flew by. The whole episode was special. My wife sending that email was a remarkable gift. Ditto Patrick's generosity. They say never meet your heroes but I think the better advice is to choose the right ones.

Let me be clear: this SICKENS me. I spent YEARS writing letters to get my interpreters in America because they SAVED OUR LIVES. One of my interpreters was a 15 year old kid. One day, we were working with the Afghan police and he went stone quiet. After we left, I asked him what was wrong. He told me that the Afghan police had just threatened to cut his lips off for helping us. He was FIFTEEN. And he risked EVERYTHING for our soldiers.
Shame on us. I think of the brave Afghans that stood alongside us against the Taliban, especially those I worked with personally during my four years in command of the NATO mission there. It is incomprehensible to me that we would not bring them here to the United States, fulfilling the most fundamental obligations of trust and honor. nytimes.com/2026/04/21/world…

Reporter: What do you make of Republicans saying that Virginia— AOC: Wah wah wah. We have asked Republicans for 10 years to ban partisan gerrymandering. And for 10 years, Republicans have said no. Republicans have fought for partisan gerrymanders across the United States of America. And these are the rules that they have set. And so if the Republican Party wanted to start this, they did this in North Carolina. They drew out three Democratic members of Congress in North Carolina. They did it in Texas. What they’re just mad at is that they have been accustomed to a Democratic Party that rolls over, doesn’t fight, and takes everything sitting down. And what they’re mad at right now is that we are here in a new day. And we have been asking the Democratic Party to stand up and fight, and now they did—and now the Republican Party doesn’t like the fact that they are fighting against someone who actually will stand up for the American people. So if Republicans decide that they would like to revisit a ban on partisan gerrymandering, I welcome them. We have the bill right here to end this all today. But they don’t want to, because they like pursuing and continuing to enact an unfair electoral landscape. And so we have an obligation to defend ourselves.
