I think, as Zimbabweans, we need to have a serious conversation about responsible dog ownership. Too many people allow their dogs to roam freely in the streets, creating risks for pedestrians, children, cyclists, and other animals. Even in homes with secure walls and gates, some owners become complacent and allow their dogs to slip out unnoticed.
Owning a dog comes with a responsibility not only to the animal but also to the wider community. A dog that is free to wander can cause accidents, spread disease, attack people or livestock, and create unnecessary fear among residents. Responsible ownership means ensuring dogs are properly secured, supervised, and prevented from roaming in public spaces.
