The disclosure of SALT TYPHOON intrusions against US warranted access functions in telecom infrastructure is precisely the fulfillment of warning against mandated backdoors for merely administrative execution. We have known for over 15 years that this is a priority domestic target for adversary services, with repeated new examples from foreign networks year over year. & that no extant implementation is ever secured effectively against sustained pressure over time. Yet LE proponents defending bureaucratic interests dismissed intelligence driven concerns, with unearned confidence that can only be described as motivated ignorance. We pay the price, now and in the fights to come.
