My first time at #vmsg2024 and my first ever poster! A brief look at the ongoing work on the quirky and fascinating Socorro Island - come check it out at poster #5! Look forward to getting about to see all the other amazing work today! @CovGeography @Durham_Volc

Thanks @GWRHelp I spoke to someone who said my train will likely be cancelled to Bristol so I pay for a coach instead, now I see the train left. Would love a refund for at least the price of the coach thanks…

Grad Students: Today is Christmas. Give yourself the gift of writing — whether on a manuscript of your own or a collaboration. If in the field, collect some field notes. Either way, get some work done. It’s one of my favorite days of the year to work, because all is still.

Just some amazing outcrops I’ve been working on - note older deposits on top of the younger scoria cone 🫣 This last month I’ve uncovered a lot of Tenerife’s explosive past and proud of what I’ve achieved given the complexities of the task, I’m excited to see the final product!

It was fascinating listening to a wide range of research on the Canaries - particularly learning all about how volcanic eruptions impact marine ecosystems! Also, great to meet and talk with @volcano_katy, @smitchell_sci, and everyone at @VolcanoCamp Thanks to everyone involved!

It’s nice to be back to really piece together everything I saw a few years ago. A lot of hard work ahead and (hopefully!) a much improved understanding of fall deposits on Tenerife by the end!

Back on Tenerife with @Durham_Volc @DurUniEarthSci MRes students Louis Chambers and former @GeoIntern @GeoTenerife Ryan Bailey to fill in gaps in Las CaƱadas caldera's volcanic history. It's painstaking detective work measuring and describing each layer of pumice, ash and soil.

Hmm, I’m intrigued what they think ā€œwoke ideologyā€ is and how they think it impacts science? I’m assuming such decision was NOT made by collective scientists? How do they even define ā€œsafeguardingā€? ā€œLong-Term Decisionsā€ for a party with not long left? So many questions…!
NEW: Conservatives are safeguarding scientific research from the denial of biology and the steady creep of political correctness. @michelledonelan announces plans to depoliticise science at #CPC23

Why is it every time I think I’ve got somewhere with my research I find something else I need to do and feel like I’m back at square one šŸ™ƒ

Woah 🤯
Today might have seen the biggest physics discovery of my lifetime. I don't think people fully grasp the implications of an ambient temperature / pressure superconductor. Here's how it could totally change our lives.

Graduation #1 completed ā˜‘ļø Nice to go back to see old faces and to look back on a peculiar degree - half during covid, half with some marines in Mexico…? 1st class in the bag but this is only the start, more hard work ahead!

This is one of my favorite places and the main reason ornithology became my passion. I'm very glad to announce I got admitted to study a life science master degree in CICESE @PCVida_CICESE, focusing my research on shorebird conservation.

Despite the unusual conditions a couple of weeks ago, and the survival of the rescued nests, tides are keeping the #CeutaSnowyPloverProject team working on rescuing some nests. The disposal of food is great for the families but more restoration actions are needed.
Four days of tides and around 1/3 of the old salt ponds are flooded. We are trying yo rescue some nests using platforms. The last time, the platforms works great (no one nest was abandoned or predated) and some chicks hatched from those nests.

I am lost for words. Omg, West Ham, family generations of support growing up a stones throw from the Boleyn. Years of going to games - I’d only dream of winning a European trophy. Here we are AHHHHHHH
