I gave a keynote talk at the #ils4 conference in Granada inviting legume researchers to reflect on the gap of influence between value-chain actors and which policies support legume-based cropping systems
π± π± π± Are you aware of the policy paradoxes of underutilised crops? @ESSRG colleagues investigated the implications of the current governance of agrifood systems on the use of underutilised crops in @eu_radiant. Do you have other examples? Share here: radiantproject.eu/policy/
Why do nearly 50% of our calories come from the same three crops: wheat, rice, & maize?
What role can underutilised crops (UCs) play in making agri-food value chains more sustainable?
Orsolya LazΓ‘nyi and colleagues from @eu_radiant tell us more.

Can we let ourselves interpret our practices - critically and collectively, in a participatory way? Our senior researcher, GyΓΆrgy Pataki talked about the @coevolvers Living Lab Methodology, a novel way to reflect on practice-based learning.
What this methodology enables:
Helps people involved in a practice to organise and communicate what they have learned, discover better ways to perform and improve practice.
π Current global food systems are contributors to climate change because they account for approximately 35% of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, leading to biodiversity loss and water pollution,. Find out how #RADIANTPROJECT is contributing to agri-food sustainability.
Congratulations @essrg colleagues, Vanda, Emese, and Dia, for the fantastic #PlanEAT event this Thursday - presenting results from the food environment mapping!
It's a huge milestone! Thanks to the 30 participants representing the Horeca sector and our main collaborator, VIMOSZ.
Beacons of hope from the COACH project, the Collaborative Agri-food Chains: Driving Innovation in Territorial Food Systems and Improving Outcomes for Producers and Consumers, the final conference strated
50 years ago, on February 7, 1973, I won my first science medal at an open biology exam in my high school, KisΓΊjszΓ‘llΓ‘s, Hungary. The second award I received was the Rosenstiel award in February 2021.

New Nature paper. Europe already outsources much ag production, fueling tropical deforestation. Bioenergy in Fit for 55 plan does more: diverts 20% of EU cropland to bioenergy, 4x increase in wood imports for bioenergy, and loss of half of EU's diverse semi-natural grasslands.
#COP27 ends, our quick take:
-Hopeful: agreement on loss & damage
-Bad: weβre on track to 2.7C
-Significant: 1st agreement to include action on agriculture & #foodsecurity
-Disappointing: #agroecology & #foodsystems deleted
-Dismaying: zero #climatefinance for small-scale farmers
