Contending in Springfield, Ohio, is Timothy Wiseman, the director of instruction at Different Strokes Golf Center.
Wiseman, who has played each of the past two PGA Championships, is a Ball State alum and during his college career qualified for the 2018 U.S. Open at Shinnecock. He missed the cut, but as the 724th-ranked player in college golf the season prior, it was a career highlight.
“Take golf away from it, it’s a dream to be able to be out here,” Wiseman said back then. “Just soaking everything in, I really can’t even put it into words. But the support that I have here, that’s been my favorite part. My phone hasn’t stopped ringing since I qualified.”
