Two failed transfer stories on this day in 2009 - one in and one out. First, reports said Barnsley had failed with a bid to sign Charlie Adam from Rangers. Barnsley's bid fell short of Rangers' £500,000 valuation. And second, the Reds rejected a second offer from Bristol City for midfielder Anderson De Silva. On this day in 2019, reports north of the border indicated Motherwell had turned down a bid from Barnsley for 19 year old midfielder David Turnbull. The offer was said to be around £2m and Motherwell were sticking out for £3m. Later that month a club-record £3.25m fee was agreed with Celtic but the deal collapsed when the medical showed Turnbull needed preventative surgery on his left knee.
