Today is the 30th anniversary of the fall of Vukovar - the biggest tragedy in recent Croatian history. 🇭🇷
The Croatian defenders resisted the aggressor for three months despite being surrounded and outnumbered, but Vukovar was captured on the 18th of November, 1991.

On this day in 1960, Blessed Alojzije Stepinac, Croatian cardinal and Archbishop of Zagreb, died in house arrest after being wrongfully convicted of "treason" in a show trial by communists.

#OTD in 1991 Serbian forces launched their fiercest attack on Dubrovnik (South Croatia). 🇭🇷 soldiers in Fort Imperial stood their ground. The fort was built by 🇫🇷 after the 1806 Russian-Serbian-Montenegrin attack on the "crown of all Croatian cities" (16th c. Croat poet Vidali).
