DRC along with more than 20 racial justice, mental health peer, disability rights, homeless advocacy, and other organizations have submitted an opposition letter to the Assembly Health Committee to say "NO" to AB 1676 (Stefani). This is a California bill that would authorize involuntary medication in court-ordered outpatient treatment. We need YOUR help to oppose this bill.

We invite you to join us in Sacramento on Tuesday, April 14 at 1:30pm to oppose AB 1676 at the Assembly Health Committee Hearing (1021 O Street, Room 1100)
We oppose AB 1676 because involuntarily medicating people is dangerous. Psychotropic medications carry intense and potentially life-threatening side effects. Plus, AB 1676 would disproportionately harm Black and Indigenous Californians, who are overrepresented in communities this bill would target.
We want people to be able to access mental health services and supports. Involuntary medication destroys the therapeutic relationship, which needs to be built on trust and safety. AB 1676 is a major step backwards in growing participation and stability for people with mental health diagnoses. Join us and say "NO" to AB 1676.
