GOOD NEWS: South Dakota has withdrawn from Texas v. Kennedy.
This lawsuit has the potential to seriously undermine the rights of disabled people to live and fully participate in the community.
What began as a 17-state lawsuit is now down to 7 - proof that advocacy is making a difference. We need to keep speaking out until the remaining states follow suit.

Delaying digital accessibility is unacceptable. It’s that simple. The Department of Justice just issued an interim final rule that delays enforcement of website and applications for state and local governments. Delaying this deadline undermines timely access to digital services for people with disabilities. We strongly oppose these changes and demand that the Department withdraw the interim final rule and restore the original compliance deadlines. New rules requiring state and local governments to make their websites and mobile apps accessible - from courts and transit systems to schools and public hospitals - are set to take effect later this month. But the rollout could be delayed.
Covered entities have had two years (!) to come into compliance with the rule. It's extremely troubling that the DOJ would try to change or extend the rule just as it is about to go into effect. People with disabilities deserve better.

We oppose AB 1676 because involuntarily medicating people is dangerous. Psychotropic medications carry intense and potentially life-threatening side effects. Plus, AB 1676 would disproportionately harm Black and Indigenous Californians, who are overrepresented in communities this bill would target.
We want people to be able to access mental health services and supports. Involuntary medication destroys the therapeutic relationship, which needs to be built on trust and safety. AB 1676 is a major step backwards in growing participation and stability for people with mental health diagnoses. Join us and say "NO" to AB 1676.

The Trump admin is moving to push homeless veterans into institutional or involuntary care by putting them into guardianship.
The gov't says these veterans are “stuck” at hospitals because they can’t make health care decisions.
In our experience, people remain hospitalized for a simpler reason: there isn’t enough housing and community-based mental health support available for them to leave safely.
