Excited to share our first preprint from the lab! We developed an image-based pooled screen to uncover regulators of HP1 condensates and discovered a link with intronic RNA and RNA processing. shttps://www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1101/2025.09.21.676939v1

Back home traveling after a month to Bay Area realities. $600 3hr/day class for 11 yr old F1 that he was super excited about it for a big project. Arrived first day: oh class is canceled. Did you email me? We emailed the student, maybe in spam. Did you refund ? No. Nice moves.

Last leg home on RTW ticket with @UnitedAirlines @Lufthansa_DE. Not one leg on time. Two intercontinental flights with maintenance issue or plane swap for maintenance issues. Not good. Delays up to 12hrs but let’s see what with last leg delays ends up. Hoping to get home soon.

I am very happy to be hosting @LisaRacki of Scripps at the UCSF iMicro seminar today. Wonderful science, and on such a fateful day, great reminder of the amazing beautiful things humans are capable of.

A preprint from the lab led by graduate student Dana R Kennedy. doi.org/10.1101/2024.10.25.6… Over 20 years ago, the Eissenberg lab showed that phosphorylation of HP1 is important for its silencing function. Why? Key observations from our study in fission yeast:
