Caleb Williams' plan for the next 6 weeks: "Get away from the coaches (Ben's words), train and get ready. Get ready to come back in shape. Get ready to score touchdowns and keep the interceptions low." #Bears

With #Bears practice in the books, the good news? Jaylon Johnson was back and had 2 INTs. Dayo and TJ Edwards were back too. Kyler Gordon was not there. Tyrique Stevenson left practice limping. D’Marco Jackson also left late, favoring his shoulder.

Colston Loveland found the endzone six times as a rookie, proving that he can be an integral part of the #Bears offense. I broke down every single play that he managed to score on. For our VIPs on @BearReport: 247sports.com/nfl/chicago-be…

Something we aren't talking enough about is how much better Caleb Williams was in 2025, especially when it came to reading what opposing defenses were throwing at him. Williams recognizes that the CB bails on DJ Moore, leaving him wide open on the outside release dig. Note how Caleb also recognizes that the cornerback and safety are 13 yards apart, creating a WIDE OPEN window to fit the ball into. The accuracy, ability to hit open receivers, anticipation, and pocket presence are all on display when he hits Moore. Expect to see more of this going into 2026 as he takes a massive step forward and elevates the #Bears.

Stud is the term I'd use to describe #Bears RB Kyle Monangai after a rookie season that included 783 rushing yards and five touchdowns, averaging 4.6 yards per carry. This play against the #Eagles serves as an example of how his vision, patience, and hard running style were on display all throughout 2025. Focus on the LOS for just a minute. Chicago has six players on the line to match the six in the box that Philly has. Ben Johnson did a little bit of everything in the run game last year and this zone run concept serves as an example of why the front office and coaching staff value versatility on the OL. Everyone takes a step to the left except for Jonah Jackson who works up to the Zack Baun. Note that this was a staple of the running game last year: Working up to the second level if there isn't a defender in your playside gap. Monangai is patient, letting the blocks in front of him develop while recognizing that the hole is in the B-Gap. Part of why this play is so successful is because of the double team that Joe Thuney and Drew Dalman get up front. Notice how Dalman also works up to the linebacker, a major reason that Monangai gets down to the three yard line. Expect to see more of this in 2026 with Monangai getting a lot more opportunities in the run game.

The last time the #Bears were at the goal line in Indiana, it resulted in like a D'Andre Swift 6 yard loss on fourth down.

I think Brandon Johnson wants the Bears in Chicago a lot more than JB Pritzker wants them in Arlington Heights. Until there's a shovel in the ground an actual money committed to the Indiana site, I think everything is still on the table. It does seem, however, that this whole idea of the Bears owning their own stadium so they can get all the revenue streams and increase their free cash seems to be slowly dying. New deal, wherever it is, will be a better financial deal for the Bears, but it will still be far short of what their goal was when this whole thing began. 🪙🪙

Alright
Sen. Bill Cunningham, D-Chicago, tells me that Bears President Kevin Warren called him this morning and told him they were putting out the statement about moving forward in Hammond. But... Cunningham added this: "He also said he looks forward to continuing discussions with me."

Let's talk OT Jonah Jackson. On Wednesday, #Bears HC Ben Johnson praised Jackson for his work ethic, mindset, and experience. This is just one clip from Week 7, but it summarizes who Jackson really is. #Saints DT Nathan Sheppard is lined up as a 2-tech over Jackson playing with his feet shoulder width apart. He's trying to establish leverage and swim inside to the A-Gap. Jackson recognizes this and keeps his right free at the start of the snap to protect the B-Gap while mirroring what Sheppard is trying to do. Notice how Jackson's feet never stop moving either, a foundational piece of playing OL. His hands are also perfectly placed, and it's evident that his punches are powerful. In short, this play is a nice way to showcase who Jackson's true identity. A savvy veteran who is an anchor on the right side of the OL and understands the finer aspects of playing his position, including good footwork, hand placement, and solid technique.

Statement from Matt Hill, the spokesperson for Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker: "The Bears have built a storied legacy in Illinois for over 100 years but have spent the last six years, and especially the last few months, shifting their position on a stadium location. That has hindered their progress. Today appears to be another instance of that after Illinois leaders have been working with the Bears in good faith. Governor Pritzker has always been clear that he wants the Bears to stay in Illinois and still remains open to a sensible solution that protects taxpayers."

I’m still not remotely sold the #Bears stadium crisis is over but this entire process from the start has been a joke. Bought a piece of land with no plan. Hired a president who cannot get the job done. No matter the end result, the process to get there has been incompetent.

This is what the fourth time the stadium focus has shifted? It continues. We will see if they get shovels in the ground soon in Indiana.
