...and the sadness is that some of the worst offenders are other authors who do not seem to have the time but are the first to complain if there manuscript review is delayed! We all have a responsibility to contribute to the quality of the published surgical literature!
Peer review is broken. Here is a common reality for journal editors – 9 requests for review all declined. It is understandable, everyone is busy. But for these authors, we are now 44 days after submission and no one is yet willing to look at the study. @hpbjournal@IHPBA@EAHPBA
