TI-99/4A dev update #4: A hero emerges. Got sprites displaying in assembly. Sprite color on the TI-99 is 1-bit so I had to layer 2 sprites in order to get 2 colors. Kinda digging that green/yellow but it might clash with background color so we'll see.

Might as well drop my specs while I'm at it. - Ryzen 5 3600 - 32GB DDR4 RAM - Radeon 9060 XT 16GB I only play in 1080p so it's more than sufficient. @CachyOS is my daily driver but I also have dual boot in case I need Windows. What's everyone else rocking?
Bought a small air compressor the other day. Now giving the old PC a good cleaning.

Been working on getting a couple Macintosh Performas up and running for some eventual MacOS 7-9 game development. ZuluSCSI is truly magic, though I miss the mechanical noises of the HDD and CD-ROM. Also the plastic on these machines is brittle as hell. #RetroComputing

Always forget to add this one to my eBay watchlist. The coop and VS mode were really great.
Future Cop: L.A.P.D. is a 1998 PS1 third-person shooter from EA Redwood Shores, the studio's first game. You play an LAPD officer piloting the X1-Alpha, a police mech that shifts between heavy combat mode and a hover car, to restore order to gang-ravaged Los Angeles of 2098.

IMO, this is Nintendo's most underutilized IP.
Some games are just too good to hide. Maybe I should changed the colors more? All of you got this one today. Maybe a couple didn’t. Congratulations to everyone!

Grok is a game changer for me. I use it a lot to understand how things work (or don't) and spitball/prototype ideas. This allows me to iterate at a way faster speed than before.

Got sick of constantly reopening the TI VDP Programmer's Guide PDF over and over so I went ahead and printed a hard copy that I can keep on my desk for reference. Shoutout to @printMe1 for the excellent service.

TI-99/4A dev update #3: Fully switched to TMS9000 assembly. May not look like much but it took me most of the day to get my keyboard and joystick scanning routine figured out. Another challenge solved.

Bought this crappy Sega Genesis controller off AliExpress to use with my Sega Mark III. Might buy another one to mod for use on the TI-99. SMS controllers already work with the TI-Atari adapter. I just have to bypass the multiplexer to make it passive.

Spent the morning iterating on a hero sprite. I think I like the eyeless designs better.

Dusted off a small tool I wrote a while back for dealing with TI-99 graphics. I create tiles/sprites in mtPaint and save them in PPM format (cause it's really easy to parse). Then I feed the PPM to my tool and it will spit out the proper bytes for use in the assembler.

TI-99/4A dev update #2: Made a simple demo of keyboard movement with a sprite. Starting to switch from GPL to assembly. Ultimately I want to make a physical cartridge. Assembly only requires ROM. GPL requires GROM, which has to be emulated and costs more. #RetroDev

I prefer light mode. Block me if you must.

I'm not really a golf guy but I still have the weird affinity for golf games. Recently found out there was a Golden Tee collection so I picked it up for Switch. I played the heck out of the Golden Tee (1998) PC demo back in the day. Any golf favorites? #RetroGaming

Anyone else a Game Center CX fan? That show was my gateway to so many hidden Japan-only Famicom gems I’d never have discovered otherwise. Arino’s suffering is legendary. Two favorites in my collection: - Astro Robo Sasa - Challenger #RetroGaming

AMD has been an amazing partner for M64, can't wait to show people what comes next!
