I don't think most ppl are aware how long it takes to get a film made. I don't even think most cast & crew know since shoots fly by in a month or 2. So here's a PSA about how friggin' long it actually takes to make a film, as illustrated by some of this yr's awards contenders:🧵
Category number 4 is…………….. ‘Short’ Short!
.
They may only be less than 5 minutes in length – but the work involved is incredible.
.
Congratulations to our 6 shortlisted films, we’ll see you at the awards night!

This is the reaction of someone who has dedicated his life to Cinema and understands the significance, legacy, and honor of winning the Palme d’Or. A beautiful moment for a humbled Sean Baker is a win for us all.
Loved this piece by @GuyLodge in @SightSoundmag about Past Lives, ‘a study in distance, (dis)connection and the lag between two people in separate spaces’
“It’s an amazing thing when you realise, no, actually there is an epic scale to your unremarkable life”
Celine Song speaks to @GuyLodge about her quiet but powerful Past Lives
Song: ‘It is a bit of a leap of faith. You have to jump as though you are open to falling off the cliff and dying. You have to be open to the possibility that no one’s going to catch you.’
It didn’t occur to me that I’d watched two boxing films in a row until halfway through Creed III. Probably because I don’t think of Raging Bull as a boxing film, even less so each time I see it
ALT A meme for Letterboxd Friday with stills from Beau is Afraid. Joaquin Phoenix as Beau is lying in his bathtub looking at his phone, and we see the reverse shot of his Letterboxd profile looking back at him.
Casting has begun for my new short ‘Delivery’ w/ @lanecastinguk
Seeing incredible acting talent bring to life characters that have existed on the page & in my head for close to a year… so humbling, inspiring
I love this part of the process — everything starting to become real
For #TLOU 104 I’m highlighting the amount of in-camera work the art dept did, building a gas station and 100 or so fully aged and weathered vehicles:
(1) Scout photo
(2) Mid-way through build (snow!)
(3) In-camera as shot (no tweaks)
(4) Post VFX and DI final shot (added depth)
I just signed the petition to save the Curzon cinema in Mayfair which is under threat of closure. Will you sign too? you.38degrees.org.uk/petitio… via @38degrees
