The Muslim call to prayer is being blasted 5 times a day through the streets of Astoria in NYC.
A resident recorded the sound from several blocks away to show how loud it is.
There are 7–10 mosques in Astoria, with 3 having loudspeaker permits. However, all of them can use loudspeakers without special permits as long as they follow noise limits on Fridays and at sunset during Ramadan.
