In powder bed #additivemanufacturing, consistency is key. The Materials Processing Institute has developed some handy morphological classifications for powders that give anyone working with these materials a great framework. bit.ly/3IOTBEA #malvernpanalytical

Early Xmas presents from a friend who went to Japan recently. Motivation to fix my non-functioning SNES controller. Anyone recognise the top game? @nvmuk

Some snap-off, pre-mounted weld tracks (234) that just need a quick polish. Tried a few new laser strategies to hopefully make weld track analysis faster and more useful. @RoyceSheffield @mapphub #additivemanufacturing #3Dprinting

Shove some recrystallisation in there for good measure 🫤

Digital calliper read out to USB with a @Raspberry_Pi Pico. It will soon be installed on an #opensource mechanical testing machine as an extensometer. New oscilloscope for the home lab was invaluable at first ever attempt to decode a digital signal.

Really enjoying the @FullControlXYZ release schedule for new print designs. It’s like the old weekly magazine toy collection excitement all over again.

Struggled with the new @FullControlXYZ phone holder using an SD card to run the print. The seam kept overextruding and ripping the part away from the bed. Attempting to run manually via a Python script feeding gcode over usb 🤞

Seam from using SD card to run the gcode. Overextruded and the nozzle kept hitting it on each layer.

I don’t understand any of the biology here but the cell segmentation and visualisation is amazing! Love a good visual description.

This is why I made some ‘changes’ 😁 A PI allowing their trainees to properly own their work will undoubtedly result in a better project and a happier researcher in the long term.

I should probably point out that I’m happy where I am now for these reasons 🎉

Not just for code! I bet loads of groups have aspects of this, but that it still involves 1-2 key group members managing everything manually. Making the onboarding process partially asynchronous with an editable website is a great point 👍
Here's a rough timeline for setting up research lab code management, based on this thread. WDYT?

I excel at getting hangovers... but today I'm trying overhangs 🙃 "Overhang Challenge" model now available at fullcontrol.xyz Try to get 90 degrees! If anyone manages to get a downward overhang of 135 degrees, I'll buy you a car (I won't) #3dprinting
