BFD has been notified by Valero Refinery staff that they are flaring intermittently this morning after starting up a unit following normal maintenance. Benicia Fire Department staff will continue to monitor the situation. We do not anticipate any off-site health impacts.

Bayview Circle fire update: The fire investigation is ongoing, but the preliminary indications are that the fire was accidental in nature.

At approximately 12:27pm this afternoon, the Benicia Fire Department was dispatched to a first alarm structure fire on the 500 block of Gloria Way. The fire is knocked down. Crews are currently on scene checking for extension. No injuries reported. The cause is not determined.

UPDATE: Fire north of Lake Herman currently under control. There were no injuries and no property damage. The fire was contained at 6-8 acres.

Benicia Firefighters are currently on scene at a 2-3 acre vegetation fire on the north side of Lake Herman, west of Sky Valley Road. There are currently no evacuations and no injuries.

The City of Benicia-Government's cooling center remains open at the Benicia Public Library. The library is open and available to the public today, tomorrow, and Thursday from 10am-9pm. It is also open on Friday from 12pm-6pm.
