His research is focused on the economic and social causes of natural resource exploitation in rural communities and how this relates to the conservation of western lowland gorillas (Gorilla gorilla gorilla), chimpanzees (Pan troglodytes troglodytes), and other endangered primates

In the strongest terms possible, we condemn these horrific acts of abuse against nonhuman primates and applaud the investigators for bringing this to the public’s attention. The perpetrators who are involved should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
