This. Once lockdown is over, please consider ditching combustion engines, switching to EV, PT or AT, and together we’ll create this sustainable, peaceful world we all aspire to.
The number of birds in our garden has increased very noticeably and our Dunedin city center neighbours have also commented on this - from a safe distance 😄 And the quiet from lack of traffic has been a revelation- so less stressful- had not realise how much ambient noise we had

12% was the amount of Wellingtonians satisfied with WCC in 2022. 12% is the rate increase Wellingtonians are faced with. 10% is Barbara McKerrow's payrise. No shade of decency.

Hi @WgtnCC. Can you please let me know when the 2023 edition of the Residents Monitoring Survey will be released? It was released early June in 2022. Many thanks.

Will Wellington's Green mayor even consider such policy? Or will Wellington Region's Green chair of Climate Change committee?

Meanwhile, BlueBridge got itself a brand new diesel-powered ship (the Connemara), locking itself in for, what, a decade, maybe two, of burning yet more fossil fuel. electrek.co/2023/03/09/port-…

It seems now everyone is excited about Takina. But to me, this reminds me of this scene from Titanic. youtube.com/watch?v=JTZYqODo… I mean, this thing will bring MORE flights to Wellington, of people who wouldn't have come otherwise 🤯 How can this be a good thing for the climate?
What to look forward to in Wellington on Nine To Noon's around the motu segment today. Seems like 2025 is going to be a good year for the capital 💁‍♀️ rnz.co.nz/national/programme…

Hey Tim @waitbutwhy. Thank you for your last book, it's the most important one I've read in a long time. Do you know if it'll be translated into French eventually? Merci :)

"... by the amount of interest from international non-governmental organisations ..." The LAST thing we need now is MORE international flights coming to Wellington (heard of climate change?). Our Mayor should know, and she should say it loud and clear. stuff.co.nz/national/welling…

Until transport plans encompass flying and shipping, a big chunk of transport emissions won't be accounted for, and therefore addressed, @michaelwoodnz. When will a sinking cap on their emissions be introduced?

It seems @FlyAirNZ has turned its back completely on mitigation and hope we will all adapt, as suggested by this proposition to make the next climate event even more devastating, just so that one can have a great adventure at others' expenses. Tone deaf, at the very least.

I mean, burning fossil fuel is bad enough, but doing it for futile reasons, like this, is just plain criminal nowadays.

Yeah ... we'll moan and rant for a couple of months, and then resume to BAU, like we did for COVID.
These photos don’t adequately depict the horror of this extreme climate event in NZ. The need to be on a War footing with Climate Change is brought home to us…. cnn.com/2023/02/15/asia/new-…

Hi @sarahfreenz and @TeriONeillNZ. What do you think of this 👇🏻? The application and the development, please. Thanks.

A bit of info on the proposed Mt Crawford development: 1) consent lodged under fast-track Covid framework 2) this means no public notification or obligation for a hearing 3) WCC involvement limited to expert advice input 4) if not approved for fast-track it'll come back to WCC
