The Japanese government may have agreed to the "Common Principles for the Protection of Minors," but we must not allow Japan to implement age verification systems like those being implemented in Western countries, which are unlikely to be effective in protecting children and will endanger the privacy of all people, including adults.

For the first time, the G7 – 🇨🇦🇫🇷🇩🇪🇮🇹🇯🇵🇬🇧🇺🇸🇪🇺 – agreed on common principles to protect minors online.

Implementation of of these policies has lead to the policing and arrests of people for criticism of those governments with no statistical evidence of an increase in protections for minors and in fact an increase in exposures of private IDs and information.
