To the silly sausage who reported me to the police for taking birds out of nests! Please read the header description - licensed bird ringer! So here is a lovely brood of Buzzards we ringed yesterday. And of course we put them back in the nest! I need to keep posting to educate.

I am overwhelmed with the response to this post! If I have saved even one barn owl from drowning, job done! @BarnOwlTrust
To all livestock farmers, particularly during this hot time, please remember to safeguard Barn Owls from drowning in your troughs! I put concrete blocks in mine! @BarnOwlTrust @SomersetLive

Heat wave! In the uplands of England we’re fortunate to have a cooling breeze, most of the time. Still, shade helps the beef cattle and, by law, I have to provide it at 32c and above. I’ve planted thousands of trees on the farm; shade and shelter were key reasons. Right now, I have to use the tree cover I have wisely. The portable water trough means I can easily graze in shade during the day, then, in the open overnight. Eat real red meat and animal fat; buy the best you can.

This Wryneck was a lovely surprise on the Salisbury Plain today. It is the 9th we have ringed there. The place really is special👌.

Will you be eating less meat to hit Starmer’s climate target? 👀

Are farmers within their rights to warn dog owners about incidents like this, which was seen in Scotland a few years ago? Would you feel comfortable if they did?

If you want to do one simple thing for wildlife, please speak to your local council and claim a verge for nature. I did & I feel great! Don’t deal with your councillors they only do what is good for their careers!

Hosted climate change committee, Leeds uni & AHDB at the farm today - employing #agroforestry as a climate adaptation and mitigation approach. Lots to discuss.

Farming & wildlife go hand in hand.
This lamb was one of a set of twins born last night, sadly it must have been born dead then a badger has taken the opportunity to take all its insides out as neatly as any surgeon #lambing #nature #LakeDistrict

I've said it before & I'll say it again..this sadly won't get to your passed relative/friend, maybe do something better than littering our planet&causing harm to livestock and wildlife. Plant a tree in remembrance which will always be reaching towards the sky! #BanTheBallons!

Why the hell do we import beef in the first place? If we all ate less meat we could be totally self-sufficient knowing that the meat we all it is the best, well our beef is definitely the best! bbc.com/news/articles/c4g7zv…
