This spring, we will publish a book full of brave acts. Dozens of federal employees resigned from their jobs rather than carry out policies they felt were illegal or un-American.
They gave up their paychecks. Some gave up their pensions.
We are in quiet awe of these letters.

I think it's wonderful that you all are holding a haiku contest! With that in mind, since you're looking for "risk taking, experimentation, and surprise," I would implore you to think outside of the syllabic notion of haiku, as top journals of Japanese forms written in English (like Modern Haiku) have for many years. 💜
For this ten-day challenge, Frontier seeks poetry written as Haiku! We’re looking for poetry that explores the people, places, and things you have a love-hate relationship with. The first-place winner will receive $500 publication! 🥀✍️

Is it ethical for literary magazines to offer a "fast track" submission lane to writers for a higher fee? (Some mags offer expedited response time for $25.)
This year, some of the most urgent writing came from federal employees at all levels who walked out. Our next book will showcase the best-written federal resignation letters of 2025.

Poets aren’t bad at self-promotion because we’re inherently humble, but because the habits that sustain poetry have very little to do with the habits required to promote it. Promotion can feel like an assault on the inner world by the outer one.
