New from Göttingen bioinformatics:
SpacePHARER: sensitive identification of phages from CRISPR spacers in prokaryotic hosts academic.oup.com/bioinformat…
Start of a nice evening with @TiagoPedreira8 and twitterless Christoph Elfmann to celebrate papers on SynWiki and SubtiWiki that have been accepted for Protein Science @ProteinSociety and @NAR_Open
@IMPRS_GS @uniGoettingen
Current #SARSCoV2 VOCs have sampled only a fraction of possible spike domain changes, rising the potential for further change in virus replication and transmission properties over the coming years. Paper co-authored by EVBC members @robertson_lab@my_pvtdoi.org/10.1093/ve/veab067
This is a great paper and a great thread explainer by Moritz, who, with Harald Vohringer developed the key analytic model to track SARS-CoV-2 variants across space and time using the awesome @CovidGenomicsUK dataset in the UK.
Just out - the rise and fall of SARS-CoV-2 lineages in England.
In the last 1.5yrs the UK has been a bell weather for SARS-CoV-2 evolution and genomic epidemiology thanks to the data sequenced by @CovidGenomicsUK and @sangerinstitute.
Let's recap. >>

Most modern phylogenetic inference methods rely on the gradient of the likelihood function w.r.t. the branch lengths (for optimization and/or Bayesian inference). [1/5]
