Yeah, fook this hydration break. It has ruined the game's flow. It's hard not to see it as yet another FIFA money-making gimmick, especially after charging fans a fortune for tickets. This needs to be booed loudly AF #fifaworldcup

Do we not realise how insane this is?
Uruguay arrived in the United States for the World Cup and were greeted by sniffer dogs and full security checks. Look at Manuel Ugarte’s face 😂

Is there a legal pathway for the American public to vote Alexi Lalas off World Cup coverage? Genuinely asking. @FOXSoccer

“Will be allowed to lift the World Cup with the winning team” It’s mad that the leader of the USA has to be treated like a toddler who’ll kick off and scream the place down if he doesn’t get the first slice of birthday cake. 😂
Exclusive: Donald Trump will be allowed to lift the World Cup trophy with the winning team, as he did at the Club World Cup. Trump will present the 2026 champions with the trophy on July 19 at MetLife Stadium alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino.🏆 talksport.com/football/world…

Egypt scores a golazo! All the momentum in the world! … Commercial break. For 3 minutes. Fuck off, @FIFAcom

De nuevo: Estadio cerrado. Totalmente climatizado. Un ritmo de juego absolutamente paquidermico. Mínimo desgaste físico. ¡Para que carajos se necesita una “pausa de hidratación!

I understand that sports get Americanised. I’ve enough experience of it, and I’ve been in favour of a lot of US sports influences. But insulting the world by calling the introduction of a time out half way through each half, a ‘rehydration break’, is an insult to us all.

The World Cup is completely unwatchable with the FIFA ad breaks designed as "hydration breaks". Infantino has to be removed as FIFA president. It's a total farce.

One of intangible things that makes football beautiful is the ebb and flow of momentum in a game, you could be under pressure and suddenly flick a switch before having 5-10 mins that see you score. These “Hydration Breaks” directly alter that, all in the pursuit of money. Shite.

When a ref’s standing waiting for a TV producer to tell him when he's allowed to restart a game, you've stopped running a football tournament & started running an ad break with football in between. Sad thing is, the Premier League is watching & learning🤦‍♂️

It really should be called what it actually is. It's a commercial break. Qatar-Switzerland was the best evidence for it. Both teams ready early, Abunada wants to restart with a goal kick, but he's not allowed to because certain broadcasters aren't yet back from ads...
Curacao, ranked 82nd in the world, have Germany, ranked 10th, on the ropes... but let's stop for a "hydration break" in an air-conditioned stadium. What an absolute farce.

This is truly horrendous. Curaçao have just scored their first ever World Cup goal and have momentum and then they stop the game for commercials. Absolutely detest this. No place for this nonsense in football.

I’m ready to say hydration breaks are bad enough that it may legitimately ruin soccer as a global viewing phenomenon. It is the the worst enshitification to date. Completely ruins the things that make soccer good on tv.
