Yes @MattRudd in S Times on queuing in pubs and agree the last bastion is in danger. But now, another column. Tell us, and Americans, how to queue ‘flat’ at the bar, eg: eye contact with staff, Amex Platinum in probing fist, firm sideways/forward shuffle. Instruct us please.

Congratulations to @BENMACINTYRE1 for his considered praise today in @thetimes for film #Zulu. One error in his piece I think. He says the rifles used were bolt action (magazine fed) Lee Enfields. Actually they were single bullet, breech loaded Martini Henrys. Brilliant tho’.

RIP Sir Bernard Ingham. He was the first guest speaker in 1995 at the first #ALMR Xmas Lunch - continued annually and brilliantly by @UKHofficial . I tried to brief him about his audience. He waved me aside. “Oh they’ll just want to hear about Maggie” he insisted. It went v well.

Good piece in the @thetimes today from @gerardtbaker about sustained support for Ukraine. And what a wordsmith! The second para is a single para of 110 words and he uses the word ‘eschatological’ without blinking. 😳

My recent plea to @thetimes to cover the fortunes of @ealingtfrugby has certainly borne fruit. This time it’s off the pitch in another crucial contest - this time for logic and fairness. @RFU please take heed.

I suppose this is one way for ⁦@ealingtfrugby⁩ to get coverage in the ⁦@thetimes⁩ 🏉. Not necessarily the one I’d have chosen 🥺 And of course congratulations to ⁦@CaldyRFC

Happy Christmas @BBCSport If you were minded to be festive please would you do some gift-wrapped coverage of the fantastic, top-of-the-table clash yesterday between the two unbeaten Championship sides @ealingtfrugby and @JerseyRedsRugby

First one I’ve seen of these. Do you think they had a 70 year-old stash in the stationery cupboard?

Green leaf drop 😳😢 Feels like July in Walpole Park, Ealing; looks like September. Drought? Ask the trees.

Hello @SimonCalder having a frustrating time with Swiss trying to rebook 8 flights after Covid cancelled last Xmas. Abandoned by Customer Service (ha!!) and no reply to polite email to CEO office. Writing to him again but may I cc you please? DM your email. Thanks.

I’ve just told my 21 year old (vaguely savvy) daughter at 21 to read @caitlinmoran today in @thetimes and to share with her mates. Her advice to those setting out to be grownups is wry, thought provoking but above all - Loving. Thank you CM.

And I’m reminded by my wife that ‘encourage’ might be better than ‘tell’. Sorry! 🥹

Shame that LOTO can’t sort @UKLabour principles from their principals. Worse was that @thetimes went along with misspell and wasn’t even sic about it.

I’ll not spoil the fun for those wrestling with Wordle today but safe to say it’ll ignite comment on the Eastern side of the Atlantic. #GotInThree 😇

Slightly baffled how ⁦@BBCSport⁩ features ⁦@CornishPirates1⁩ not once but twice in recent app coverage. By all means a splendid team and great supporters but the news is surely ⁦@ealingtfrugby⁩ success at the top at last and the unfair barriers to promotion.

It’ll be a cold game ⁦at ⁦@DoncasterKnight⁩ on Saturday. But ⁦@ealingtfrugby⁩ will be red hot again no doubt. Go #yealing

So, there’s me being profound and saying that every time you feed a pet they behave/think it’s the last meal they’ll ever get. Wife says: ‘Yes, that sounds like my dad!’
