10 things you probably didn't know about Bitcoin Dada 1️⃣ “Dada” means “Sister” in Swahili. It is the first Bitcoin-focused organization dedicated specifically to African women. 2️⃣ Bitcoin Dada started with a simple WhatsApp group in 2022 and has since grown into a movement spanning 13 African countries. 3️⃣ Before many organizations were talking about women in Bitcoin, Bitcoin Dada was already building dedicated education pathways, mentorship, and career opportunities for African women. 4️⃣ Bitcoin Dada is one of the few Bitcoin organizations in Africa that has built both a non-technical education track and a technical developer track through @DadaDevs and a dedicated UX Pathway that has attracted women from Africa and the Global South. 5️⃣ Some Bitcoin Dada alumni have gone on to lead projects, co-found businesses, secure jobs, mentored and speak at major Bitcoin conferences around the world. Hier, j'ai partagé le plateau de @BfmCrypto avec Arnaud Touati et Jonathan Herscovici pour parler réglementation mais surtout innovation. L'occasion de revenir sur une actualité qui m'a marquée : @tando_me . Rappel, l'entreprise a rendu 40 millions de numéros M-Pesa adressables sur le réseau Lightning. Concrètement : on peut envoyer des fractions de Bitcoin à quelqu'un au Kenya depuis son téléphone, et cette personne reçoit des shillings sur son mobile. Sans wallet, sans jargon, sans rien comprendre au Bitcoin. Le Bitcoin devient le rail. Pas le produit. Attention toutefois : ces 40 millions ne sont pas 40 millions d'utilisateurs de Bitcoin. C'est un rail qui se pose, pas une vague d'adoption. Mais c'est précisément là que se joue l'essentiel, le Kenya reçoit plus de 4 milliards de dollars de transferts par an, sur des canaux chers et lents. Et cette nouvelle tranche avec l'atmosphère de la conférence de la BCEAO, tenue à Dakar le 8 mai. Une conférence historique (premier pas réel, à saluer) réunissant le FMI, la Banque mondiale et la Fed. Mais centrée sur la réglementation et les stablecoins, et qui a quasiment ignoré Bitcoin et les innovations des fintechs africaines. D'un côté, les institutions débattent du cadre. De l'autre, l'usage avance sur le terrain.
