A few months ago, Bitcoin was just "a cryptocurrency" to me. One week after participating in @hack4_freedom, I'm giving back by sharing what I learned building with @Breez_Tech's Breez SDK. I wrote a practical guide for TypeScript developers: 🔗 medium.com/@nkemaconam/from-…

"ZapCart" by Enyi Gloria, Enyi Hannah, and Achusim Ebube. ZapCart is a mobile-first POS for small traders in Lagos who still run sales, inventory, and debt tracking through memory, notebooks, and mental math. It lets merchants check out customers, accept instant Lightning payments with QR codes, track sales, manage inventory, and keep transaction history from one simple phone interface. github.com/hack-4-freedom/la…

Still excited about this win so I did a deep meditation and wrote an article. I started the @hack4_freedom hackathon feeling small and insignificant. Ended it winning Best Breez SDK Project with an incredible team building ZapCart. No one is insignificant in this space and I'm happy I got to learn that... Special shout-out once again to @ibrahim_sekinah @briimhd and @roy_breez for the amazing opportunity. Read the article here, you'd love it, also learn more about Zapcart and follow our page @Zapcartofficial : iamlumi.medium.com/what-winn…
OMGGGG WE WONNNN!!! 🥹🎉 Came into @hack4_freedom as a non-developer. I left with: ✅ My first open-source contribution ✅ A merged commit ✅ New friends in Bitcoin ✅ A hackathon win A few months ago, I didn't think there was a place for someone like me in open source. Turns out there is. Huge thanks to @evento_so, @btrust_builders, @briimhd @ibrahim_sekinah for creating this opportunity. Special shout-out to @Breez_Tech and the Breez team for sponsoring our category and believing in what we built. Bitcoin keeps showing me that you don't have to be a developer to contribute. June started on an amazing note, cheers to doing more 🍷

Special shoutout to @ibrahim_sekinah for being the heart of our Hack4Freedom experience.💛 You made everything feel effortless, welcoming, and organized. Thank you so much for your kindness, hospitality, and for making us feel right at home. Me and my team truly appreciate you.🥹
SO exhausted after @hack4_freedom Lagos. @ibrahim_sekinah have worked so hard to make this vision a reality. It's so surreal honestly. Watching yesterday's demos for nearly 5 hours was so emotional. Seeing the winners scream and jump and cry with joy made it all worth it. But now it's time to grind again. See you in São Paulo July 12-26 as we bring our next edition to Brazil in collaboration with @Vinteum_org @casavinteum 🇧🇷 We're working tirelessly to educate women developers in the global south on freedom tech. Because I want to see more products built BY women, FOR women. LFG!!!

Day 11 of #Hack4Freedom Lagos with @Arowolokenny01 – Backend Developer, BOSS (Chaincode Labs) alumni. A practical guide: From Consumer to Contributor. Key takeaways: 🔹 Open source ≠ just code. Docs, tests, bug reports, translations, design feedback – all count. 🔹 Start with projects you already love. Check labels: good first issue, help wanted, beginner friendly 🔹 Feedback isn't personal. Respond to every comment. Update promptly. 🔹 Then celebrate. Screenshot that merge. Tell someone. Then do it again. You don't need permission. You don't need perfection. You just need to show up. ⚡🧡

Day 9 of #Hack4Freedom Lagos with @waithiraah – co-founder of @tando_me A masterclass in building real Bitcoin products for real African users. Key takeaways: 🔹 Solve real problems first – Bitcoin was interesting but not spendable in Kenya. Tando fixed that. 🔹 Plug into existing rails – MPESA has 40M users. Tando integrated Lightning with what Kenyans already trust. 🔹 Hide complexity – Merchants receive Kenyan shillings, not Bitcoin. Users don't need to understand the tech. Build for your neighbor, not for Silicon Valley. ⚡🧡

Day 10 of #Hack4Freedom Lagos with @nduku_jay – co-founder of @GridlessCompute. A masterclass on building in uncertainty and why Africa needs its own playbook. Key takeaways: 🔹 Frontier industries have no roadmap. You build the road while walking. 🔹 The "myth of readiness" – confidence grows through action, not waiting. 🔹 Africa's 54 countries = 54 contexts. No generic imports. Build local🧡🔥

Day 10 of #Hack4Freedom Lagos with @wandiology, Head of Operations at @btc_dada. AI Bitcoin African languages = the frontier we need to build. Key takeaways: 🔹 Only 0.14% of AI training data covers Swahili. English? 46%. This gap makes African language processing expensive and inaccurate. 🔹 Over 2,000 African languages exist. Fewer than 30 have NLP benchmarks. Tokenizers break our words. We lose meaning. 🔹 Bitcoin solutions for Africa (remittances, self-custody) need AI trained on African data – not Western models. African women aren't waiting for permission. We're building the infrastructure. ⚡🧡

Day 9 of #Hack4Freedom Lagos with @D_plus__plus – the mastermind behind Bitcoin-powered Mario Kart. Gamification Bitcoin = education that actually works. Key takeaways: 🔹 Mario Kart Bitcoin = players earn sats while racing. Used in Kaduna, Lagos, Nairobi, Vegas – globally. 🔹 Lightning Addresses enable instant micropayments during gameplay. No new invoices every race. 🔹 Collaboration matters – Dee (engineer) Brianna (branding) = success. Don't build alone. Best way to learn Bitcoin? Play. Earn. Trust builds naturally. ⚡🧡

Day 9 of #Hack4Freedom Lagos with @AnaiseKanimba, The director at @AfriBitInst Financial freedom isn't abstract. For activists, it's survival. Key takeaways: 🔹 Activists face frozen accounts, government surveillance, and banking exclusion. Bitcoin is a secure, censorship-resistant alternative. 🔹 FEDI = super app for activists – federated wallets, encrypted group chats, user-friendly recovery. No censorship. No blocking. 🔹 ABI (Africa Bitcoin Institute) fights for favorable Bitcoin legislation across Africa – lower remittance costs, economic development. Freedom technology isn't a luxury. It's a lifeline. ⚡🧡

Meanwhile I built 2 projects for @hack4_freedom hackathon Lagos 2026🫣❤️ Most Bitcoin education is backwards. You watch videos. You read threads. You memorize terms. But you never actually use Bitcoin. So I built BitPilot 🚀
