Saving in Bitcoin is not a crime.
Yet, the South African National Treasury is drafting regulations that would potentially make it one.
These vague rules could:
- Ban self-custody of crypto assets.
- Force the sale of private assets to the state.
- Outlaw peer-to-peer transactions.
- Give the Minister arbitrary power to set illegal thresholds without a parliamentary vote.
This is not regulation. It's expropriation.

We are building a real Bitcoin economy here. We earn, we spend, and we save in sats. It's how we protect our families from inflation and build wealth.
Now, the government wants to potentially force us to sell our Bitcoin to them. They're calling it "forced liquidation" of our savings. It's basically theft.

Anthropic is reportedly releasing a public version of its Mythos model tomorrow, potentially called Claude Fable.
Mythos has been restricted since April to 200 organizations through Project Glasswing, a cybersecurity consortium that includes NATO, Samsung, and the EU's cybersecurity agency.
The model autonomously discovered over 10,000 critical zero-day vulnerabilities across every major operating system and browser in its first month.
Anthropic delayed public release because Mythos can autonomously develop professional-grade cyberattacks.
The public version will have "substantial guardrails" and won't be as permissive as what Glasswing partners access. It is reportedly dramatically better at long-horizon, multi-turn tasks.

As the Property Rights Defense Group, we strongly urge National Treasury and the SARB to immediately remove Bitcoin from the Draft Capital Flow Management Regulations.
Bitcoin is not a traditional "capital asset" and should not be treated as one.
Self-custodied Bitcoin is private property β no different from gold, land, or art.
Classifying it this way violates Section 25 of the Constitution.

1/ Big news out of the Supreme Court of Appeal (SCA) today: another crushing blow to SARS.
The SCA dismissed their appeal and ruled a search-and-seizure warrant unlawful because it was wildly overbroad. Seized materials? Out. VAT probe? Hamstrung. Privacy rights under Section 14 of the Constitution? Protected.
