Once upon a time if you took a dollar you weren’t supposed and got caught you couldn’t ever play college sports again. NOW you can get drafted, make millions playing in Europe, take two-way contracts in the NBA, play in the G League, and if all that doesn’t work out - you can just decide to go play college basketball.

This Duke-Amazon deal has some major implications:
1) Signals Amazon is becoming aggressive competitors to traditional networks for collegiate media rights, much like it has been with pro sports
2) New NIL pipeline for Duke
3) Duke is leveraging its brand power for an independent commercial deal, something I'd expect other high-level programs to copy
4) Amazon has global reach, which can only help with exposure - especially with international pipelines thriving in college basketball

Auburn winning the NIT is not proof that they belonged in the tournament. Why? Well because the NIT is literally a tournament of bubble teams and someone has to win it. It’s like having ND football play BYU and if ND won that doesn’t mean they should’ve got in over Miami.
