Today in Detroit, @MikeBloomberg launched the 1st-of-its-kind national initiative to provide high school students with direct pathways to careers in the skilled trades. The $90 million @BloombergDotOrg investment will prepare a new generation of workers for high-wage, family-sustaining careers and address acute labor shortages in important fields like welding, electrical work, and plumbing.

America needs more skilled trades workers — hundreds of thousands more. We’re launching a first-of-its-kind, $90M national initiative to help 15,000 high school students across nine regions in seven states step directly into these high-wage, high-demand careers through hands-on technical training and paid work experience. Together with unions, employers, school districts, and city halls, we’ll help modernize skilled trades training and power America’s future workforce.
