“If we close the distance between city halls and residents, and maintain the ambition at CityLab 2026, mayors won’t just respond to change. They will shape it.” That is what the summit, and our Government Innovation program, is about: a global community that knows local governments can adapt and deliver across countries and challenges no matter the moment. Follow @JamesAnderson, who leads all this work, as he takes us inside #CityLabMadrid.

Today in Detroit, @MikeBloomberg launched the 1st-of-its-kind national initiative to provide high school students with direct pathways to careers in the skilled trades. The $90 million @BloombergDotOrg investment will prepare a new generation of workers for high-wage, family-sustaining careers and address acute labor shortages in important fields like welding, electrical work, and plumbing.

America needs more skilled trades workers — hundreds of thousands more. We’re launching a first-of-its-kind, $90M national initiative to help 15,000 high school students across nine regions in seven states step directly into these high-wage, high-demand careers through hands-on technical training and paid work experience. Together with unions, employers, school districts, and city halls, we’ll help modernize skilled trades training and power America’s future workforce.

The U.S. has millions of job openings in the skilled trades, but far too few trained workers to fill those roles. Our $90 million investment in skilled trades education & apprenticeships will help create direct pathways to those opportunities for 15,000 students across the U.S. bloombg.org/3PRi1DP

What role can art play in healing and care? Originally painted in the 1930s for Gouverneur Hospital’s children’s ward, Abram Champanier’s "Alice of Wonderland Visiting New York" murals are now back on public view at @MuseumofCityNY through September 20 after decades of restoration. We're glad to support @NYCHealthSystem and @MuseumofCityNY in this effort, and in the broader work of showing how the arts can support wellbeing, foster connection, and strengthen care.
