Mouth cancer cases already rising at an alarming rate.
Health experts have raised concerns about the rise of tobacco-free nicotine pouches known as "snus" in Ireland rte.ie/news/ireland/2026/060…
Community note
Article mislabels pouches as "snus" — snus is tobacco leaf and EU-banned; pouches are tobacco-free. pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC89… europa.eu/rapid/press-re… Risk context missing: pouches have fewer nitrosamines than nicotine gum (13ng vs 380ng). tobaccocontrol.bmj.com/content/33/2/1… tobaccoanalysis.blogspot.com/2025/01/americ… WHO report cited draws causal conclusions its own methodology cannot support. sciencemediacentre.org/expert-reactio…

Absolutely nothing done to the driving test or lessons apart from they cost more and are mandatory. No new education for young drivers and nothing about tests for new drivers that are licensed from other countries. The RSA is the problem The solution isn’t a hi-vis jacket
Mandatory hi-vis is not good road safety policy, it’s cover for decades of inaction. A death every 48 hours on Irish roads is a complete systems failure, not a visibility problem. I spoke to @johncookeradio on @drivetimerte. rte.ie/radio/radio1/clips/22…

This is an absolute joke of a story. Presenting 20k worth of expenses over TWO YEARS for the top exec in Irish media as some sort of extravagance is nonsense. If anything this type of context free gotcha story does the public a disservice @Jennifer_Bray.

Genetics and being functional with alcohol. Still died with lung cancer being one of the coolest men in the world.
Paul Newman. 12 pack of beer a day for decades. Chained smoked. No morning routine. No supplements. No sun gazing. No fasting. No ice baths. No journaling. Lived artistically and handsome to the ripe old age of 83. When men were men.

Isn’t Ireland a great little place altogether? Thanks @EamonRyan for making another company really profitable in the name of Green
I hadn’t realised this. Re-Turn is making bin charges more expensive. Bin companies are losing €15m in revenue from aluminium cans and PET bottles. The cans are worth €800 - €1400 a tonne & bottles €500. So we are paying twice! Deposit charge higher bin charge. I think we need to start a Boycott.

Journalism is difficult isn’t it @FineFail ?
Re-Turn is the scam that keeps on scamming. Fine Gael councillor was hired by Re-Turn to lobby a Fine Gael Minister to remove 23% VAT on the unclaimed bottles!! The councillor previously worked for the PR company Teneo whose client is ReTurn. ReTurn is sitting on €100m after just one year but they’re still not happy. They wanted tax exemptions on top. A humiliation gravy train.

You know it’s a bank holiday and @HqBloom is on so why is you Dublin bound trains running nearly one hour apart? I would’ve imagined that you would put more commuter services on today. @IrishRail

Goodbye whatever is left of Irish farms.
The government wants to end many restrictions on one-off housing, including the cap on the number of homes that may be built on farms. It will be the "biggest overhaul of rural housing rules in two decades", according to Simon Harris. thejournal.ie/one-off-housin…

I am not wearing a hivis jacket to walk to the shops
A motion passed by Clare County Council has called for making high-vis jackets mandatory for pedestrians and cyclists. It has been criticised by the Irish Cycling Campaign, which said it would push some people back towards the car. thejournal.ie/hi-vis-jackets…

Honest to god I thought it was a new Hyundai
Yes, this is a Ferrari. For real. Ferrari's first all-electric car, the Luce, has arrived, and it brings radical change to Maranello. What do you think of its looks?

Could have used the 50m euro from the IT project to fix the bloody pipe.
Diesel has been leaking into the River Liffey from an underground pipe connection near the Samuel Beckett Bridge for over a year. The leak links to a fuel farm owned by Irish Rail, which is used as diesel storage for fuelling trains at Connolly Station. jrnl.ie/7046606

Not a single mention of Centrica or the fact that @BordGaisEnergy are currently being restructured by the MD of @BritishGas We could have renewables running this country but we took 1b for our national system. Thanks IMF
The European Union's statistical agency confirmed earlier this month that Ireland had the highest electricity prices of any EU member state for the second half of 2025 rte.ie/news/ireland/2026/052…

Did you know that the CEO and MD of @BritishGas and @BordGaisEnergy are the same people? They have a monopoly over pricing and in Ireland and the UK. Bord Gais was sold to Centricia in 2014 we are paying to maintain the system while the profits go to London @sinnfeinireland

The woman in this video is Caitriona Graham an Irish citizen. Kidnapped in international waters, abused, beaten, put in stress position by Israel. A rogue state that Ireland sent €20m in dual use tech to in 2024 alone. @MichealMartinTD grow a spine.

Stress positions being used when the prisoners are being moved. Taken in international waters, held, made to kneel and squat. They are being tortured and yet again International Human Rights are being ignored by Israel.
Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir released a video showing detained participants of the intercepted Gaza-bound flotilla being bound and dragged in Israel's Ashdod Port, writing, "That's how we welcome the terror supporters. Welcome to Israel." Read more here: haaretz.com/israel-news/isra…
