#MPQCRetreat2023 Scientific controversy: Should we develop ‘intelligent’ #ECM-inspired materials with or without cells??? Congratulations to Dr Jacqui McGovern and Dr @shahrouzamini for a superb debate, which favoured cell-based materials in the end! 👏👏👏@MaxPlanckQLD
#MPQCRetreat2023 Inspiring talk by guest speaker MPICI Director Silvia Vignolini on the engineering of hierarchical photonic structures. Learning how to translate phylogeny concepts to materials science to extract materials design principles🌻@MaxPlanckQLD #BiologicalMaterials
This is it! A year after #MPQCRetreat2022 in Qld, it is now Day1 of #MPQCRetreat2023 in Germany. Catching up with @MaxPlanckQLD colleagues and enjoying a rich and diverse program of lectures, debates, deep down sessions and more, around the fascinating materials science of #ECM!
Shocked but super empowered to receive @arc_gov_au support for my #DECRA#DE24, using bioinspired engineering to understand how bone cells and ECM work together to give rise to bones 🦴 @QUT, @MaxPlanckQLD, @TRI_info. Thank you reviewers, people and family along the way 🙏🙌

I want to add that this is not my first time applying (see photo 4 years when I failed) and my heart aches for those who didn’t make it. This is a tough system but don’t loose heart, it’s not a reflection of yourself and there will be happier days soon. ❤️

Thrilled to receive the @ABSTE1 Emerging Investigator Award last week in NZ, thank you Team/Mentors, I owe you this success! Thanks to my family too who relentlessly supports me behind the scene. I even received a 1.6m-long drawing (check out the sheep)!🥰🙏@MPQC@TRI_info@QUT
📢 New paper out 👀#AdvancedHealthcareMaterials! 👩🔬Check out how GelMA hydrogels and biomimetic culture allow engineering of mineralized, adipose, and tumor tissue microenvironments for cancer studies in vitro and in vivo!! ☺️ @MaxPlanckQLD @QUT@ASBTE1@AgatheBessot@TRI_info
To better understand the role of BM-adipocytes in advanced prostate cancer, @BockNat and co-workers developed bioengineered tumor platforms using GelMA hydrogels.
This approach could be critical in the future to treat early-stage tumor formation.

This proud moment when your student publishes their first PhD paper 🥹 Time to let them shine! 😁 Watch her ppl, her name is Agathe Bessot and she is a rising #STEM star in #Bioengineering in #Oncology! More details soon in #AdvancedHealthcareMaterials ✨ @MaxPlanckQLD @ASBTE1 ✨
I have a passion for HDR & ECR development so I’m super excited to learn and serve by co-leading the internal engagement stream of the Centre for Biomedical Technologies #CBT for 2023! Look out HDRs and ECRs, we will soon be in action @QUT for an exciting program ahead! @ASBTE1
Might not be the best time for posting but we do have an immediate postdoc position open relating to vascular bioengineering and biofabrication. Please email me if interested. @BrighamWomens@BrighamResearch@Harvard@ISBioFab
Super proud of Luke Hipwood for publishing our novel click-gelatin hydrogel as a 3D cell culture platform, freshly patented by @GelomicsPtyLtd. Great collaborative effort with Dr Christoph Meinert within my @AdvanceQld Industry Fellowship @QUT@TRI_infomdpi.com/2310-2861/8/12/821
Very lucky to be co-awarded an ARC DP led by D/Prof Dietmar W. Hutmacher @QUT on the Materials Science of Soft Network Composites along great co-CIs in Australia and abroad!
QUT celebrates $7 million ARC Discovery grants success.
An international team of researchers has received $449,148 for the project.
D/Prof Dietmar W. Hutmacher, Dr. @LuiseWille, Prof @trdargs , Dr. @BockNat, Prof Alessandro Reali, A/Prof Paul Dalton & Prof Ali Khademhosseini.
The #BrisbaneCancerConference 3D cancer models session was fun to co-chair with @HaassLab@BockNat. Such strong ex vivo cancer organoid research here in Brisbane, highlighted by the talented young researchers who presented today, much of which is born from #CPAC. Bravo!
To address the low-throughput of melt electrowriting we added a second nozzle. It was more complex that you'd think but with a bonus of being able to make semi‐woven structures with @meltelectrospin@elena_dejuanp and Raquel Sanchez Diaz onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…
