As is traditional in Ireland during big storms, we all await a news story from a windswept reporter that has been tied to a lamppost in Salthill while some gobshite in the background flies a small dog like a kite as the waves smash over a poorly parked Ford Focus

I finished Middlemarch today. What a magnificent achievement; the final words are a peerlessly wise & humane philosophy of life. I’ve never seen the much-lauded 1990s BBC adaptation, which is on iPlayer. Grateful for advice on whether I should watch it.

Has anyone written a book or PhD on the subject of a mountain in literature? Two of the strangest books I’ve read have had a mountain as a key ‘character’. Loved them both. And I’m more of a beach girl 🤔
