The City of Boston mourns the loss of Navy Veteran Lawrence Cedrone who passed away February 2, 2024. A member of our Brighton community, Lawrence honorably served during the Korean War on the USS Baltimore. His obituary can be found at legacy.com/us/obituaries/bos….

Last night we hosted a screening of Eagle Scout Michael Gallagher’s documentary “Heroes of West Roxbury.” The movie profiles 46 West Roxbury men and women who died serving our country. We’re grateful for young people like Michael who ensure we’ll never forget their sacrifice.

We also honored Gunnery Sergeant William G. Walsh who was killed in action at Iwo Jima, while leading his men against a fortified hill on February 27, 1945, he threw himself on a hand grenade, sacrificing his life to save the lives of fellow Marines.
