Going #carfree is challenging, albeit rewarding, especially in a smaller city like #Pittsburgh. This does a great job of covering the challenges & considerations when making this jump. How to go car-free — or car-light — in Middle America vox.com/future-perfect/23578… via @voxdotcom

Curious what it looks like moving an 80,000 lb. railcar? 🤔   Here’s Metro’s original 1000-series train making its journey from Greenbelt Rail Yard to the National Mall late Sunday night, and our 8000-series mockup arriving by crane Monday morning. 🏗️🚇   To get the 1000-series off the semi-truck, a ramp was constructed, and a tow truck gently pulled the car forward onto a custom set of tracks.

This article demonstrates why we need trains or at the very least, many buses. Autonomous Vehicles can contribute to a diverse, useful, multimodal system, but they cannot fully replace public transit anytime in the near future, if ever at all.
Of course there were cranks so upset about the travel restrictions on cars in NYC/NJ saying they were unneeded, imagine h ok w much worse it could have been. Seems those people who opted to take Ubers/carshare were worst impacted. TAKE MASS TRANSIT! mrf.lu/9vJb

The week starts tomorrow. 🇩🇪 One German word to carry into it: 𝗗𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗯𝗹𝗲𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗻. = to stick with it. To stay on it. To not let go. 𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘯 = on it. 𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘯 = to stay. Not to rush. Not to force. Just to stay on the thing. Whatever you are building - the language, the habit, the goal you keep circling back to — it does not need you to be perfect this week. It needs you to 𝘥𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘣𝘭𝘦𝘪𝘣𝘦𝘯. Stay on it. 𝘎𝘶𝘵𝘦 𝘕𝘢𝘤𝘩𝘵. 🌙🇩🇪

Allegheny-West. 720 Allegheny Ave - Wendy’s. Caller is an employee and says a banned DoorDash driver is in the drive-through pounding on the window. They would usually handle that but they’ve been reminded to stay out of the news.

And the worst part is that this is that way too much affordable housing looks like in Atlanta -- stuck on suburban-style streets (not an urban street grid) that are very difficult to serve with transit, and difficult for walking. That needs to change.
If you build apartments in a cul-de-sac where public transit can't get to them, you should be held responsible for increasing traffic congestion. That's what high density without non-car options ALWAYS means.

Is it just me or is it still wild that we have heard nothing about the fkn hate crime that happened in philly 2 days ago? 15 guys smashed up a bar and maced/beat the people inside. The place is still closed and boarded up and nobody is talked about it
254 was attacked last night and i haven’t seen a single post about it. found out through a friend who was there that about a dozen men came in and maxed everyone, smashed windows and terrorized the place. absolutely horrific. was anyone else there?

Wait, so we were told to take shorter showers, turn off the tap while brushing our teeth, and conserve water at every opportunity… but data centers can show up and use millions of gallons like it’s nothing?

Wherever you can no longer use your SEPTA Key Card to ride local transit. That's as far west as Coatesville now (though really, it feels like West Chester or Paoli is the boundary), and Pottstown, and as far North as Doylestown
Where does it stop being "Philly Suburbs" and starts being just "Pennsylvania"? Phoenixville? Boyertown?
