I understand where you coming from and you not totally wrong, but nuance is definitely needed here. Poverty was a very real thing for a lot of us and very traumatic. You couldn't afford to let a kid gorge themselves when nobody knew where the next meal was coming from.
Yall had the type of mom or grandma that food watched? (ie, how many times you go in the fridge, how much cups of juice you get, getting seconds, etc?)
I cannot stand people like this —and I can almost instantly tell when someone was raised with that trauma.
