Good news moment : sent home behavior emails to parents on 5 kids. 🫣Week 6 of school. So far, I have received emails back from 3 parents, all supportive, apologetic, and promising to straighten their child out. 😳 I’m a little bit stunned, and very grateful for that reaction.

Does anyone do an activity alignment with the teachers above you and below you? I did tax collector today and my Geometry Ss had done it last year in Alg 1. Not a huge deal, but for some of the activities it really ruins it to have done it already. #iteachmath

Hubs and I are headed back to the US after a year serving as church volunteers in Albania. My school gave me the year off to do it. I find I’m having anxiety about reintegrating into our US life. But not the driving. I’m very excited about getting back to US driving.

Before flying home, we are getting the most we can out of the trains in Europe. We are train lovers, but have very few choices back home. We’ve been 🚊from Paris to Brussels to Cologne to Basel to Zürich and will finish off Vienna.❤️

Feeling some nerves about picking up some Alg 1 sections this fall. Still keeping Honors Geo, which I love. But I haven’t taught Alg 1 in 10 years, and it’s always given me struggles. The entire 1st sem is just 8th grade math enhanced 10%

And you have that mix of Ss who got As and Bs in middle school math with those who haven’t passed math since elementary school. Our team has chosen the “go slow” approach and I struggle with that. So there may be conflict ahead. 😬

Maybe that’s why I was asked to be on the team. They’re very old school direct instr, slow moving, and we still aren’t seeing success and mastery. But the Ts are afraid/stressed to change. We have to use same pacing, same tests, but I can use my own materials, thank goodness.
