You have to love climate activists like @PaulBongiorno one minute it’s “We need to decarbonise” and the next it’s “How dare you say we are decarbonising” Net zero by 2050 will totally destroy the Australian economy.

We are wasting billions on a mad attempt to reach net zero, while giving up the chance to work with the US to rebuild our defence manufacturing capability. Hopefully the PM changes tack in his first meeting with Trump next week. I write in more in the @couriermail

I’ll be taking part in a new fitness challenge next month and I’m going to need your help. For 21 days starting on 1 May 2024, Wide Bay residents are encouraged to get involved in the Million Moves Challenge. More than three quarters of Australians don’t get the exercise needed for physical and mental wellbeing, and the Million Moves challenge is asking people of all ages and abilities to get active each day and complete 75 moves. Inactivity is the second leading risk factor contributing to chronic disease in Australia and it’s preventable! Wide Bay is a beautiful location, offering bush and coastal walks, mountain climbs, parks and reserves – the options to get off the couch and get out and get moving are endless! You can get involved in the Million Moves Challenge as an individual or as part of a team. Don’t forget to register and take part, it’s FREE. Individuals can activate their own moves or take part in a range of community and business events, while accessing a great range of offers from AUSactive’s Sunshine Coast members. For more information on Million Moves visit millionmoves.org.au/ #ausactivemillionmoves #fitness #WideBay

💵 CASH IS KING 💵 Today I went down to my local ATM to withdraw some cash. I gave this cash to a local business and took home some of the fantastic local produce that Wide Bay has to offer. Cash is not affected by internet blackouts, cyberattacks, hacking or scams. When you use cash for a purchase, neither you nor the business owner pays a surcharge. The big banks don’t get any kickbacks. Despite cash being an essential part of our economy and way of life, many banks are closing down their ATMs and are no longer offering cash over the counter at their branches. The impacts of these decisions are being felt across Australia, especially in regional communities. These changes are being justified by the fact that fewer and fewer people are using cash as a method of payment. It is clear that when it comes to our cash, it’s ‘use it or lose it’. I am encouraging all Australians to help keep our cash by going to an ATM, withdrawing some cash, and spending it in your local community. Let’s show the big bank CEOs that cash is still king! #CashisKing #CashOutDay

In Australia, the likelihood of dying in a traffic crash is 24 times higher, and the risk of being seriously injured and hospitalised from such an incident is 63 times greater than the risk from a major weather event. Additionally, there has been a 10% increase in road deaths in Australia over the last year, with 1286 people losing their lives. The Albanese Labor government’s plan to introduce legislation aimed at reducing carbon emissions from vehicles will result in lower prices and greater availability of lower-emission cars, like the 1-star-rated Chinese-made Skyworth EV6 currently sold in Europe and America, and higher costs for combustion engine vehicles like the 5-star safety-rated Ford Ranger. Given that the proposed emission standards will not in any way affect the frequency of major weather events and that promoting and prioritizing access to 5-star safety-rated vehicles would save lives and help prevent the carnage on our roads today, this policy stands as a great example of a government focused on dangerous ideology and not the welfare of its citizens.

I caught up with Cherbourg Council this morning. Mayor Elvie and her team are a great example of local representatives working hard for their community. Education is just one of the areas where some fantastic results are being achieved. Better outcomes in education mean better outcomes in life.

Thank you to @BrienLlew Member for Wide Bay for jumping on board the AAA's Data Saves Lives campaign. As a former police officer, Llew would know first hand about road safety. We're calling on the Federal Government to compel state governments to release data on car crash causes, road conditions, and policing trends for the sake of road safety. This data can drive more effective policies at a minimal cost, ultimately saving lives. Check your MP's position: datasaveslives.org.au #Auspol

The sheer negligence and incompetence of our corporate elites in loudly and expensively supporting the Yes campaign for the voice demands accountability. And heads should roll. What's your view? bit.ly/3FlMyAD

It is deeply disappointing that the Greens and some Teal MPs politicised a motion in support of Israel today in the Parliament. A terrible moment on what should have been a unifying motion - these Teal MPs should be condemned for their disgraceful support of the Greens.

Australia has overwhelmingly voted for nation that is one together, not two divided. ADVANCE and the Fair Australia team would like to acknowledge the work and dedication of two great Australians who, more than anyone, made the tremendous result on Saturday night a reality. Nyunggai Warren Mundine AO (@nyunggai) has led this campaign with a commitment to his country that puts those who proposed this referendum to shame. His integrity and burning passion to improve the lives of Indigenous Australians are second to none. We thank him for his discipline and focus. Senator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price (@JNampijinpa) is a force of nature. Our campaign was proud to fight for an Australian so dedicated to protecting our values and determined to stand up for the Indigenous Australians who were trampled by the activists in their quest for power at their expense. Without Warren and Jacinta, Australia would’ve woken up a much worse place on Sunday. As the campaign winds down, we thank them for fighting for Australia. They are truly great Australians. 🇦🇺
