Most of covid I am seeing is hospital acquired. Staff members in hospitals spreading to patients. We would never do this with flu pandemic. We would continue to use masks to protect most vulnerable. Wearing mask in healthcare setting is small price to pay to protect vulnerable

Seriously. How about we fund our (remarkably efficient!) public system adequately, make full use of our existing infrastructure, and only then have a discussion about opening up to for-profit entities?
Ottawa Hospital opened up operating rooms to a private group of surgeons on Saturdays.
Why is a public hospital w/ unused OR time allowing profit-making in its OR?

The "innovative" idea is creating a parallel for-profit system with no designated regulator.
@ongov could immediately increase capacity by 25% to 50h/week by funding extended OR hours from 7am-5pm.
